Chi Square

Command Overview

The Chi Square command is used to compute the Chi Square value for a table of data. The results of the computation are shown on the status bar, and consist of the following elements:

  • the Chi Square value itself
  • the degrees of freedom (DF)
  • the critical value at a 95% confidence level

Computation of the chi square value is the sum of the squares of the observed values - expected values divided by the expected value.

Syntax

The chi square command can either be entered on the toolbar as "chisq" or just "ch". The command works on the data selected (highlighted) in the worksheet.
