electronic work papers ...

The starting point is to open an audit command file which contains a set of analytical procedures for use in one or more audits. This command file will generally have been created using the General ad-hoc query form, with logging turned on. Opening an audit command file is done using the menu item "Audit Tests | Electronic work papers". The stored audit command information can then be processed using the form shown below.

The first step is to locate the name of the file which contains the command information. (In the example below the file is located at c:\test\xl\t.ini.)

The auditor clicks the command button in the upper left hand corner of the form to locate the name of the file containing the command information.

This file will contain one or more of the following:

  • Audit or project number, along with associated audit name, audit period and audit folder
  • Audit step procedure, which will contain a variety of information, depending upon which specific audit procedure is to be performed.

Each audit step will be associated with a specific audit number. Although the audit steps may have any numbering scheme, generally they will begin at one, increasing one by one up to the last audit step number. The audit command file may contain information pertaining to one or more audits. Thus, the first step will be to select the audit or project of interest.

One the next page, the audit number of interest will be selected from the drop down list.
